If you’d like a chance to get out and perform at events, and want your details included on an email list, please contact Ros in the office. You can also email Ros if you are looking for performers to add something to an event you are planning

Looking for a ceilidh band?

What do you call a gaggle of late learner, wannabee, has been, never were, would like to be, keen enthusiastic musicians ?
Answer: Ceilidh Caleerie
Ceilidh Caleerie are a motley crew of players who have all at some stage progressed through traditional music classes with the Scots Music Group over the years, and still come back for more! There are fiddles, pipes, whistlers, mandolins, guitars, accordions, bodhrans, many other instruments. Their main aim is to share some of their unbridled love of traditional music with unsuspecting members of the public and get them up on the dance floor enjoying themselves. They have built up a repertoire of tunes for dancing. Ceilidh Caleerie are happy to provide their services to charities, voluntary organisations and good causes. They are just keen to play music, and only charge a smidgin compared to professional ceilidh band just to cover their basic costs. The only catch is that the band is big, and and typically 20 or more of them will turn up for a gig!

Trip to Spain

Members of Ceilidh Caleerie and Sarah Northcott’s daytime Mixed Instrument class are planning a trip to Alcossebre in Spain in June 2009. The group will perform and teach Scots music and dance at a number of events, with the aim of raising money for a local cerebral palsy charity.

Sue Sellar, who is a member of the daytime Mixed Instrument class is co-ordinating the trip. The group are looking for a piper and some dancers to join them. It may also be possible for more musicians to get involved. For more information contact Ros
