MUSICIANS SEE RED AT LACK OF FUNDING FOR TRADITIONAL MUSIC!
We’ll be joining with the TMSA outside the parliament on Thursday 4th September at 1pm, with a musical protest about the lack of funding for Scottish traditional arts. Wear RED (red umbrellas welcome if it’s raining!), bring your instruments, voice, friends and family, and come along and join us!
We’re also planning our Campaign Ceilidh on Saturday September 27th. More information here.

Membership for 2008 – 2009 runs from from 1 August 2008 to 31 July 2009 and is open NOW
Enrolment opens on Monday August 18th on-line (preferred) or by post.
The Autumn term of classes starts on Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September 2008.

Protest song!
Anne Renshaw, a member of Linten Adie, our daytime song class has written a musical protest. Her song, The Slender Tree, won first prize with the audience vote in the Edinburgh Folk Club’s song writing competition
On the 4th September, we’ll be starting our musical protest at the parliament by singing the song. You can download the words here, an MP3 recording of Anne singing The Slender Tree here and a copy of the written music here
TMSA Folk for Folk campaign
As part of their ‘Folk for Folk’ campaign, the The TMSA have a petition on their website. The first step of their campaign is a petition. In partnership with other traditional arts organisations they are campaigning to have the intrinsic value of Scottish Traditional Art forms recognised and to secure current and future funding for them.
